If you want insight into Mann's negotiations with big Pharma watch this movie again. They are not much different than big Oil, and you definitely don't want to be negotiating from a position of weakness.
IMO Al Mann believes this will be a blockbuster drug, and so he is trying to take as little payment up front as possible to keep the lion's share of the long term profits for MNKD.
It's a good analogy. I once referred to it as playing hardball. In spite of the opinions of some, I think that realistically Mannkind needs BP more than they need Mannkind. Afrezza not coming to market wouldn't upset any of them and I don't even want to think about the company going it alone. Can you say 600 mil shares outstanding?
You are 110% correct, anyone who does not believe these guys are SHARKS and at the top of the food chain, are only fooling themselves. I've witnessed the aftermath and have been in the next room. It gets REAL ugly. I would not be surprised if MNKD hasn't walked away from the table or vice versa. You know big Pharma knows what it is, but it is their job to steal it. Dr. Mann will not let that happen. I wouldn't be surprised either if a deal took months. It's a game of who gives in FIRST. If mnkd showed weekness their would be a feeding frenzy. Everyone on this board says this is going to happen and then that. Ha Ha, they don't have a clue, negoiations like these takes days, weeks, and even months. Be patient hold your shares, good things come to those who wait.
