Let's Stop And Look At This Investment

If you bought this stock two years ago on 2/1/2011, you paid $22.24 per share. During that two years you received distributions totaling $3.04 per share. Now, if you sold today at the close you would have received $19.62 per share for a $2.62 loss. If you offset the distributions against the loss, then your net gain on holding these units is $.58 per share. A net gain of $.58 on a $22.24 per share stock is 2.61% for 2 years or less than 1.30% per year. If you dial in buy and sell commissions, your gain is less (around 1.2% annual average). Yep, like someone said on this board, "if you don't like MLP's then go get a CD." Well sports fans, you would have earned more from a CD with no or little risk to your principle. You can jack these numbers around anyway you want to, but this particular MLP is an ABSOLUTE DOG.

    Sentiment: Strong Sell

    • And yet if you bought this stock in 2009 you would be crushing the S&P by almost 200%.

    • For everything there is a season, Mr Carr - and if you like to buy high and sell low - that is fine. Because there is someone buying at your low and selling at your high. If you do not know which is which - you should really consider buying those CDs. BBEP is a ZACK's #1 rated stock at the present price. I had several thousand shares that I sold - perhaps to you. I am currently planning to buy back - at about $19.25.

      Sentiment: Strong Buy

    • Mr.Carr856 perhaps you would be more interested in a pass book savings account with Government insurance.

    • So you bought at a high and sold it at a low. To bad. I'm buying now and I'll sell it back to you when it hits a high.

      Sentiment: Strong Buy

    • Other MLPs have done great.. The deusche bags that run this company wait for the share price to rebound to issue more shares for expansion. It takes two years for the shares to rebound since management has significantly underperformed their piers in the industry. Other MLPs have issued shares rather than incur debt, yet have strategically allocated capital to add to the perceived enterprize value to attract a growing base of investors......hence their share price recovers, while owners of this MLP shake their heads wanting to sell their own shares. Right when it begins to approach the time to break even, deusche bags issue shares to keep the underperformance going, just with more underperforming assets and lower share prices.

    • You've left out a distribution. In two years you would have received eight distributions totaling $3.576.

    • carr you just tell one side of the story. we all know timing is everything and yes buying over 22.00 is bad timing for now. you also could have bought it at $14, 15, 16 or 17 and your return with distributions could range from around 20% to 50% at $19.62 plus distributions. also as a side note you forgot the tax deferral value of the distributions compared to the immediate interest impact on the cd's, however little that is over this period

      • money, this is somewhat funny to me as I bought in at those numbers and got out 2 yrs ago at the 22 saying I did not see much upside for this and was going to greener pastures, I know you remember this and so far what Mr Carr is saying was what I said two years ago. Now that means little for the future as you know I am again in the mLp both in stock and in drilling partnerships as the future in my estimation has no where to go but up with inflation coming and eventually or hopefully a president and congress that will help this country become energy independent and an exporter. I truly believe long term that this will happen with or without congressional help. All the big oil companies (esp COP are gearing up for this) I have to believe they are more knowledgable than I and se the future more brightly. With the purchases some of these mlp's are making the distributions should improve and that will increase share price. While his crystal ball of the past is correct it is not helpful for the future. Now 2 yrs ago I said what he is saying now and it paid off for me but now I see a totally different picture and have put a considerable sum on backing up that position in my drilling partnership and into EROC but not here as of yet. GLTA of the longs here, I believe you are entering a new phase that will make the last two years look like a bottoming foundation
