    More for slow_dow_n

I've got some news for you. It is not true that the old duffers are the guys to change. You should listen to them. I felt the way you do, when I first joined the company. And, there are some real tough cases out there.

But, these dudes have experience. And you know what comes from expereience? Character. You only get character from fighting a few losing and winning battles. No battles, no character. And with no character, you flounder until you get some.

How do you get some? Well, here's a suggestion. Take it for what it's woth.

Get involved in a company tech project. (Avoid anything to do with people management for this purpose.) Find a place in the project to make a contribution. Give it a try, and see what happens. Then, after you have your results, take these results to a couple of those guys you hate. Give them a chance to eat you alive. And, as might be expected, they will likely rip off your head, and puke down your throat. But, either as they get ready to disgorge, or as they wipe their lips afterwards, they may do the honorable thing and tell you why. And that will be an experience for you. More and more of that and, well, you get used to it. Kinda fun after awhile. And there you go.

    Good luck,
