I won't comment on the life-as-drama play being acted out by management, but I will say this. The market is pulling back on nervousness. I guess they are waiting for earnings numbers. Hope those numbers come in showing a slowly growing economy, and not one that is too hot.
BUT OPPORTUNITY ... Hey, my figuring is that for the stockmarket as a whole, first quarters provide average returns, if not alittle soft. Second and fourth quarters are typically better. (Third quarters look better from a great distance.) SO, the softness at the end of this quarter is putting shares out there at attractive prices. Yes, there may be alittle window dressing at the end of 1Q, but it feels like softness is settling in. Alittle more corporate uncertainty and some sideways numbers, and even more softness will be there. This makes buying into the market in early 2Q a better value.
So, I'm keeping my positions, and looking to add during April.
p.s., My current physical position at this very moment is looking out at the surf on the Pacific hitting the rocks about 50-yards from my chair in the kitchen of this house we rented a house right on the ocean just north of Mendocino. The surf feels like it's going to roll in through the door, it's so damn close.
