The fat lady knows that mighty KKR is not dumb enough to fund a buyout of a chemical company right before earnings and cash flow drops for several years due to the chemical trough. They would get active in the depth of the trough, not now. Give KKR some credit.
This same Sunday newspaper predicted that Reliance of India was going to buy/invest in Dow and that rumor turned out to be true as I recall although nothing has been finalized to date.
I'm inclined to believe the latest story is true and that the Middle Eastern parties are trying to get ahead of the Indians.
A final point . My impression is that the current head honcho at Dow came back from semiretirement to straighten out the company after his successor messed up. If that is true, then he is probably ready to say soyonara if he can transfer management/ownership at a decent severance.
