Cold Train - Potential New Business for NS Intermodal??

Cold Train said Monday it is opening a new office in downtown Chicago in 2013 to aid "hauling more cargo and various products back from the Midwest and East Coast to Washington State and Oregon."

The move comes following what Cold Train describes as a "tripling in size of its Quincy, Wash.-based refrigerated container fleet," comprised of 300 53-foot Hyundai refrigerated trailers.

Said Cold Train President Steve Lawson, "We've had tremendous success moving fresh and frozen food products from Washington State and Oregon to the Midwest and East Coast following the start of our Cold Train Service and opening of our Washington office in 2010. We're excited about our new downtown Chicago office and our increased westbound capacity for products originating in the Midwest and East Coast headed back to the Pacific Northwest.

"This will directly benefit both shippers in the East and receivers in the West as well as consumers in Washington and Oregon," Lawson added.

Rail Logistics launched the Cold Train Express Intermodal Service in partnership with BNSF and the Port of Quincy in Washington State in 2010.
