NSC reported 258 locomotives in storage in Q$ 2012,and 160 leased locomotives were returned in 3Q 2012, so I would not expect them to be buying now but don't know the extent of their need to replace older locomotives. Eventually they will buy from EMD. CNI ordered 65 new locomotives in March, splitting the order between GE and EMD. The EMD order was for 30 SD70ACe's. CNI also purchased 96 second-hand locomotives for upgrade, so maybe they picked up some of NSC's lease returns or storage inventory and will upgrade them with CAT engines. You're not a foamer, are you, Fred?
