KSU is a very good railroad which I like and invest in all the time. I'm impressed that they do as well as they do. I personally believe they got a very good CEO and guess where he came from? Thats right Union Pacific.
When I'm discussing rail shipments, I'm talking individual catagories of shipments such as Grain, Coal, Chemicals, Intermodal, etc.
By a broad measure they popped up real good last week. The improvement was impressive.
Today the news media is saying Retailers indicate better than expected Black Friday sales numbers. That means super rally on Monday.
I would not want to be short on Monday.
Dubai will quickly become a dull memory in the figment of someone's imagination as the Retail numbers transcend and eclipse all other factors. Retail is the big enchilada.
Rails and Truckers will be needed to provide those emergency shipments to refill all those shelves at the stores that got depleted this weekend.
I see Truckers and Railroads move up big on Monday.
KSU has about 1/12th of the markket cap of UP and BNI. When people talk about the major railroads they mean UP, BNI, NSC and CSX. KSU is a smaller railroad that has big movements up and down in its stock as well as their carloadings. Many people were burned on their high P/E stock when it crashed to earth going from 53 to 13. When comparing carloading data it is more reliable to compare the big railroads than to compare them to a smaller railroad. You wouldn't compare Target and WalMart to a small regional retailer to get trends in the economy. I will be interested in KSU when crime and graft in Mexico is not a major problem.
