Cheniere Energy, Inc. Message Board

The Asia demand is massive for LNG.

In comparison to facilities such as Cheniere Energy, Inc.'s (NYSEAMEX:LNG) Sabine Pass terminal on the Gulf Coast, the Kitimat facility is, simply put, much closer to demand in Asia. As a result, it will naturally and more likely serve Asian markets while Gulf Coast terminals are better suited for European demand, thus the two regions are not in direct competition for exports.

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

    • In addition to Cheniere serving different markets, even assuming a flawless execution of the Canadian Kitimat facility, the first LNG shipments from Kitimat are not probable until 2018-2019-- while full capacity is unlikely to be reached until next decade. In contrast, Cheniere should be up and running by 2015-2016--years before Kitimat will be able to ship.
