The Asbury Lanes music venue and bowling ally is expanding.
Yet, the building next to the Lanes at 207 4th Ave. that formerly housed the Fastlane nightclub is being demolished sometime during the week of July 8 to make room for the expansion, said city developer Pat Fasano.
“The waterfront developer who owns the the Fastlane slated it for demolition anyway, so I said let me have the outdoor area,” Fasano said.
The area, on the ocean side of Asbury Lanes, will be turned into an outdoor space with a horseshoe court and a smoking section similar to the spaces adjacent to the city’s Wonder Bar and the Porta restaurant and nightclub.
City developer iStar Financial owns Asbury Lanes but Fasano and his team, who recently traded the club for ocean area lots, will continue to operate the club through September 2015 and possibly beyond, Fasano said.
“If 2015 comes they don’t need it (for redevelopment), we may want to go another year,” Fasano said.
