Some thoughts on ACTC and current events

Greetings from Subic Bay, Philippines, where I am on my normal six-week overseas work rotation. (I work six-weeks on, and six-weeks off at home back in the U.S.)

Not having all-day internet access here as I do at home, I have to carefully plan out my investment strategies before departing on each six-week hitch. It can sometimes be weeks between being able to sit down and evaluate my current positions. Therefore, I usually carefully invest in issues that I feel confident enough about to basically ignore for long periods of time.

ACTC is one of those that I hold that I didn't buy for the short term, and have accepted the likelihood of wild swings in PPS. My confidence though, is in the long term prospects for the company, and hoping that it doesn't fall prey to the desires of a FEW people here (Sale to a big phama).

I have not been disappointed in my decision on ACTC. It is performing much as I expected for a number of reasons:

    1. There is virtually NO PR flow or news from the company. This is good AND bad. At the very least, I'd like to see a regular Letter to Shareholders issued by the company summarizing activities of late, and future plans. (See CVM news for an example of what I'm talking about). This would keep a healthy interest in the company's doings, and appease shareholders on its continuing efforts. That being said, there may be very GOOD reasons for the silence, which may include slow accumulation by company insiders and related interests at low PPS with a foreknowledge that big things are in the works. (I think this partly due the RS cancellation as well... There is a lot of anecdotal evidence pointing in that direction)

    • 2. The likelihood of a massive increase in stem cell research following the National Elections will benefit a number of companies, not the least of which is ACTC.

      3. The book of patents and licensed patents of the company is phenomenal. Additional licensing of their existing patents is probable in a climate of increased stem cell research by other companies.

      4. The Pentagon announcement, and other recent national news will continue to keep the public mindful of stem cell research, and investment is sure to follow as the situation dictates.

The one thing I DON'T want to see is ACTC selling out, or being absorbed into a large Pharmaceutical or Biotech firm. The best situation we would likely see in that scenario is a 100-300% gain, and frankly, I'm looking for MUCH more with this one in the long term. I recently held VIAC (Viacell) for which I had the same hopes, yet those dreams were shattered by their buyout, and I only got a 75% return on investment. While that is not something to sneeze at, the potential as an independent company was far greater from a shareholder perspective.

Finally, I believe we will see wide variances in PPS over the coming months. At each runup, there will be large blocks who will exit for smaller gains of 10-100%. This will cause some backpedaling at times, but if the company continues to move along with radically advanced research and success, one day shareholders will be clamoring to buy at whatever price they can get in at.

      So goes my theories anyway!

      Cheers

They have a couple of months of cash left from the last ditch, "Hail Mary," toxic deal (they were so desperate to stave off eviction, they couldn't even hang on until after the BW bump)

A big brother partner or buyout, is the only savior at this point and other than some attractive IP, ACTC does not hold much of a bargaining position.

      • Hi RW and best wishes to you in the Phillilpines! We've missed your posts, and thanks for your insight. With your knowledge and background it makes your thoughts very credible. A lot of us are hanging in there for the long term.....through some very depressing times......but with the hope for all of humanity that ACTC has to offer.....great things are ahead! Good luck to you and us all and please keep posting!

I doubt any big pharma company is going to buy out ACTC, because there's nothing to buy. ACTC has no products and very little revenue, besides at 9 cents a share anyone with a little bit of money could become the majority shareholder in this company.
One reason the pps stays low is that mutual and institual fund firms do not buy risky penny stock companies, so the only way this guy will fly is if the individual investors drive it up. And thats why you see a lot of pump & dump posts here.
With that said ACTC is an intriging play, because its in a the biotech field that will be at the forefront of the new scientific breakthroughs in medicine that'll help extend human life well beyond 100 years. And its so damn cheap!
