Another study has concluded that people who only watch Fox News are less informed than all other news consumers.
Researchers at Fairleigh Dickinson University updated a study they had conducted in late 2011. That study only sampled respondents from New Jersey, where the university is located. This time, the researchers conducted a nationwide poll.
The poll asked questions about international news (Iran, Egypt, Syria and Greece were included) and domestic affairs (Republican primaries, Congress, unemployment and the Keystone XL pipeline.)
The pollsters found that people were usually able to answer 1.8 out of 4 questions on foreign news, and 1.6 of 5 questions on domestic news, and that people who don't watch any news were able to get 1.22 of the questions on domestic policy right.
As the study explained, though, people who watched only Fox News fared worse:
The largest effect is that of Fox News: all else being equal, someone who watched only Fox News would be expected to answer just 1.04 domestic questions correctly -- a figure which is significantly worse than if they had reported watching no media at all. On the other hand, if they listened only to NPR, they would be expected to answer 1.51 questions correctly; viewers of Sunday morning talk shows fare similarly well. And people watching only "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" could answer about 1.42 questions correctly.
Hey Nott the original Pravda (Russian News The Truth) is jealous of how successful Faux News is at corrupting and controlling the right wing of the American population. Even though the right wing has a choice they choose to bury their heads in only Faux News, it’s just astonishing.
Completely understandable, they have a political agenda rather than a news or information agenda. What do you expect when then they are still talking about Obama being from Kenya and the guy has been in office almost 4 years. Everybody has an opinion but it should not be news!

That is a year-old survey. November 21, 2011. If you're going to cite something, best to cite the date as well. The King of England declares the Earth is Flat! Oh wait...that was 600 years ago...haha. Sold my shares of ACTC as it stalled and hope to get back in some time soon but wish people would stick to the stock itself instead of using the board for their own personal rants. Have a great day.
i flipped to all the news channels during the storm and every time i went to cnn there was a commercial on, i'm mean EVERYTIME! yeah, that's really an informative news channel, with really smart people watching it. i have green eyes, and they say people with green eyes are smarter than everyone else. now do you believe that?
Fox always strives to be fair to the unbalanced. If you present facts that go against their feelings and beliefs then they don't like it. Being a echo chamber is the best way to be popular to those with lazy minds.
Echo chamber is a great description! Both my friends on the right & Left just like this Mb echo the same exact crap they see on TV or worse get in those annoying emails. Lazy minds do indeed find it easier to regurgitate garbage then get involved in free thinking.
Not, I don't believe that for one minute. This is just another example of liberals beating their chest and shouting, we liberals are smarter than everyone else. Your post is also a perfect example of why we can't even meet you guys halfway..............no respect. That is your biggest weakness. You are definitely underestimating conservatives but that's okay. We can, and will, take advantage of that. Your obsession with Fox News is laughable. especially when compared with the rest of the mainstream media. How do you explain the popularity of Fox and the fact that they are the most watched news in America? It is about time you leftwingers wake up and realize you are not the brightest bulb in the pack.
lol you guys don't even believe in science! Well when you look at the number of blowhards in either party or on this board you guys are the going away winner!!!!! Just look at the posts and you are saying your respectful. What a joke. I am an independent so I can definitely see the hypocrisy in your words.

Dick – popularity and accuracy are not the same thing. The study doesn’t lie. You may not like the findings, but that doesn’t change the findings. Sure, Fox is popular, but it is also un-informative, whether you like it or not. Just because people watch it doesn’t make them ‘right’ nor smart and obviously least informed.
And finally, just watching a little here and there on Fox to see what they report – then laugh at all the info they leave off or just plain distort, does make me a brighter bulb and more informed than someone who gets all there news from this sub-par news service.
When will you wake up and see this service is not a good choice? Remember, you may not like the facts, but the facts are they are worse than someone not even watching Fox – your choice.
"Not, how many people not watching Fox News know what is happening with Bengazi?"
If anyone wnats to know what happened in Bengazi, they need to read the full articles posted by, The Associated Press, Christian Science Monitor and the Huffington Post. You won't come to any conclusion but you will have a better understanding of the confusion of the attack disguised by demonstrations in Bengazi, Tripoli, Cairo, Pakistan, Afganistan, etc.
