MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow Nominated For Grammy Award

    Andrew Kirell | December 6th, 2012

The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences revealed on Wednesday evening that MSNBC host Rachel Maddow has been nominated for a Grammy Award.

For her audiobook recording of DRIFT: THE UNMOORING OF AMERICAN MILITARY POWER, her New York Times bestselling non-fiction book from this year, Maddow has been nominated for a Grammy under the “Best Spoken Word Album” category.

The MSNBC progressive host faces tough competition: 2005 Grammy winner President Bill Clinton was nominated for his Back To Work: Why We Need Smart Government For A Strong Economy audiobook; and comedian Ellen DeGeneres received a nod for her Seriously… I’m Kidding recording.

If she is victorious, Maddow would be the first cable news anchor to win the Grammy. In the past, however, several television personalities have won: Comedy Central’s Jon Stewart took home the prize in 2011 and Edward R. Murrow won in 1967.

    Sentiment: Strong Buy
