I was giving this some thought today and came to the conclusion that a $9.00 an hour would be great for high school drop outs, illegal aliens and folks that have screwed up their lives so that all they can ever hope for is to make minimum wage. It will not be good for the Americans that worked hard for 40 or 50 years and are now getting by on just a small pension (if they are lucky to have a pension) and/or a social security check. Raising the minimum wage would mean that all items produced would have to go up to pay for the increase in minimum wage. If you do that, retire people (10,000 baby boomers a day) would see their cost of living going up but their income staying the same. Is that what we really want to do to the people that made the USA what it use to be? That is what President obama wants, do you?
razor my concern is foremost those min wage earners who work while others don't. When you work you do not have the time to look for help programs, best bargains and all forms of handouts. Don't forget, those who work, work for the rest of society and even if it is to change the diapers of old retired old people.
WORKING IS THE KEY and working has to be rewarded . In Germany you have a constitutional right to work and despite occasional abuse, it works. Those you just cannot get a job, are normally those you just cannot help.
