    Sen Elbert Guillory

Louisiana State Sen. Elbert Guillory said in a video message delivered to constituents — and particularly, his fellow black voters — that he’s finally come to his senses and realized the Democratic Party disguises an all-consuming quest for control as concern and aid for minorities.

The senator announced his defection from the Democratic Party for the Republican Party a few weeks ago. But just recently, he released a video explaining his reasons, titled “Why I Am a Republican.”

In short, he says Democrats routinely push a social justice and welfare aid agenda to control blacks — rather than help them move from poverty, The Blaze reported.

Some of his video statements: “You see, in recent history, the Democratic party has created the illusion that their agenda and their policies are what’s best for black people. Somehow, it has been forgotten that the Republican Party was founded in 1854 as an abolitionist movement, with one simple creed — that slavery is a violation of the rights of man.”

Mr. Guillory reminded, the Blaze reported, that Frederick Douglass referred to the GOP as “the party of freedom and progress,” that former Republican President Abraham Lincoln was the one to sign the Emancipation Proclamation, and this it was the Republican Party that created the Thirteenth, Fourteenth and Fifteenth amendments — outlawing slavery, granting citizenship to descendants of slaves and abolishing race-based voting prohibitions.

“The Democrats, on the other hand, were the party of Jim Crow,” he said. “It was the Democrats who defended the rights of slave owners.

He then said that welfare and food stamps were never aimed at helping the poor, but rather controlling them. The proof? Blacks and minorities are still “as poor as they’ve ever been,” he said.

“At the heart of liberalism is the idea that only a great and powerful big government can be the benefactor of social justice for all Americans,” Mr. Guillory said, in the video. “But the left is only concerned

    • I believe state Sen. Elbert Guillory was right on in his criticism of the Democratic Party. All the attempts at CYA by the Dems will go nowhere once the effects of the immigration bill become reality. (Elk take note.) The Dems want to have it both ways but in the end, as always, the truth will win out. Prediction: The support of blacks for the Democrats will slowly unravel when the blacks realize the Dems have sold them out. Then, it will only be a matter of time before Hispanics realize the value system offered by the Dems does not match their own starting the erosion of their support. This will not happen overnight but, it will happen.

      • DW,, this is truly a mess,, if this POS bill goes through then there will be fighting over jobs and of course more welfare cause there wont be any jobs,, more over, with that "thing" Obama, he is about to sign executive orders that the EPA will kill even more jobs over his dumb a*s*S energy policy and global warming bullshiet, (granted there is some but they got it way out of proportion),, no Keystone pipeline and now wanting to close more federal land to drillers,, can't leave a carbon footprint now can we,,
Mr. Guillory can be a visionary for the black community and he is right,, notice that we have been having more and more highly educated black folk that are coming out and blasting what the dear leader has done and is doing in ruining America,, what with his policies here and abroad,, Dr. Carson is an other example of the brightest of the brightest that has come out and denounced the administrations policies and has offered alternative insight,, Obamacare is going to be an absolute disaster,, about 30% of my friends are quiting or going into nonclinical medicine,, wait until people start getting their bill for this dam thing,,
I think you are right, Obama's world is going to unravel and the result is that the blacks and Hispanics will see light, but the repubs must do away with the old fa*rt mentality and modernize in order to get votes form these folks,, I just hope we don't go too far over the edge,,
        Happy Sunday,,

    • "...Somehow, it has been forgotten that the Republican Party was founded in 1854 as an abolitionist movement, with one simple creed — that slavery is a violation of the rights of man.”

Great point right here, suretown. It is, however, precisely the Republican Party that has forgotten, if not fully repressed (except at odd political moments) this truth. The Repubs are, in fact, proving to be faster than Usain Bolt, maybe even faster (to be current) than a speeding bullet, in running from its former identity (now lost and gone forever) as the Party "that created the Thirteenth, Fourteenth and Fifteenth amendments — outlawing slavery, granting citizenship to descendants of slaves and abolishing race-based voting prohibitions."

Thanks, again, suretown for reminding us of this historical oddity.

      Sentiment: Strong Buy

    • where is keep, elk and blue on the Sen. statement

    • By God, maybe there is still hope!

    • of course, but what are the stupid libs going to call him? Racist?

    • TRUTH is slowly but surely disinfecting the long standing lies of the dems/progressives. They are now going after the "brown" brother, dangling the amnesty carrot. They love giving away stuff that doesn't belong to them with their sweet little lies.....but the rest of America is waking up from the progressive slumber, aka kibosh...bwahahahaha
