    On Imigration

I agree that we need to reform our policies. But why is it that this country is the only one that is criticized for protecting its borders? And most of that crtiisiam comes from the Libroid left?

"Ted Kennedy on the 1986 Simpson-Mazzoli Bill: “This amnesty will give citizenship to only 1.1 to 1.3 million illegal aliens. We will secure the borders henceforth. We will never again bring forward another amnesty bill like this.”

You will notice the loons didn't comment on your Kennedy quote. Reality isn't their strong suit.

    • Theres, what would good for America is if all the religiously extreme in this country imigrated to the Middle East, where theocracy, not democracy, thrives, and hatred of science is the norm.

    • Beach, this illegal immigration bill is a joke and the butt of it is the American people. The Repubs have coalesced with the Dems to pass it and the only hope is the House will vote it down. Cheap labor for the Repubs and votes for he Dems.. And the rest of the country be d*a*m*n*e*d. As everyone knows, no sovereign nation can exist without controlling its borders. Somehow I think that fits in with the agenda of some people. But that's another story. Where have all the leaaders gone? There are certainly none to be found in Washington D.C..

      • #$%$W3939: All the leaders are off doing something else with their lives. They are competent but refuse to govern because they will not take the brickbats regularly thrown at politicians. Plato wrote about this dilemma in the 5th Republic. "Those who are competent and refuse to govern are condemned to be governed by incompetents." His solution, even in the face of Greek democracy, was the philosopher-king. Philosophy was seen in that era as the highest and best calling of the bright. He would FORCE the philosopher to rule for a time and then he could go back to being a philosopher.

The problem is that power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. We are seeing this with Obama who isn't even aware that philosophy exists. Otherwise he never could have sat at the feet of Jeremiah Wright for 20 years. At least Oprah had the sense to leave. Narcissism is alive and well in DC and Obama has a massive case of it. So, we are being governed by incompetents. And, it is our own fault. Our population is so massively dumbed down they don't realize their own ignorance. How could they, the public school system is a disaster.

As for immigration, we will be unable to stem it until we are willing to submit to a police state, complete with facial recognition and finger printing to establish identity. May that day never come. We can use facial recognition and fingerprinting to control who comes in and out of the country via planes, trains, boats and cars from other countries. But, they will still be able to melt into the population and disappear. The price of freedom is being free to move about unquestioned. We clearly are moving away from that with the TSA, etc. The Patriot Act should be repealed and all the enforcers fired to get more productive jobs.

        My rant for the day.
