    Mission Accomplished II

War on terror is over. From Today's NYT's

"The new signs of an energized but fragmented jihadist threat, stretching from Mali and Libya in the west to Yemen in the east, have complicated the narrative of a weakened Al Qaeda that President Obama offered in May in a landmark speech heralding the end of the war on terrorism. The leaders of the Senate and House intelligence committees, Senator Dianne Feinstein of California and Representative Mike Rogers of Michigan, raised warnings in an interview on CNN on Sunday when they said that Americans were “not safer” from terrorist attacks than they were in 2011."

      • Yes, dickw, we should be totally honest about the US soldiers who died in Iraq and Afghanistan. Of course, it is also true that the issue of who put our soldiers in harms way in the first place is a very crucial factor. But for the basic stats, they are as follows:

Soldiers Who Died In Iraq Under Bush: 4222

Soldiers Who Died In Iraq Under Obama: 264

Soldiers Who Died In Afghanistan Under Bush: 581

Soldiers Who Died In Afghanistan Under Obama: 1662

Soldiers Who Died In Afghan + Iraq Under Bush: 4803

Soldiers Who Died In Afghan + Iraq Under Obama: 1926

Also keep in mind many would say the US losses of over 3000 civilians on 9/11 should be added in for Bush and his failure to heed warnings and protect against the expected terrorist attacks by Al Qaeda or others.

        Sentiment: Strong Buy

      • #$%$, starting wars is very easy, as the two bushes demonstrated. Stopping wars are a bit more difficult. Kings, #$%$-taters, and wannabees have done the former, for times predating written history, to the present.
