Visited the closest BL store for the past year and most what I see is junk and high priced at that. It used to be a great store to find bargains - now it has alot of stuff nobody buys - I can't find anything I need or at special deals. Many don't want their stuff even at their sale price. Dollar store sometimes has same stuff at a whole lot less $.
So what's their next strategy - pump classical music over the speakers and charge even higher prices?
How can anyone turn this around without having a flashing Orange Light specials like K-Mart used to have to keep the junk and cash flowing.
Its retail and if you can't judge the company by the public display of products and services it offers, then how else - crystal ball? Their prices vary and often times it's no deal - shoppers are more informed and sophisticated and will determine the better prices for things are elsewhere. So it depends on how much of a discount Big Lots can lower prices to make themselves attractive or differentiate themselves from WalMart/Target/Dollar Stores.
