The9 Partners with ZTE for Interactive TV Services
The9 Ltd (NYSE: NCTY), a Chinese online game operator, and ZTE Corp (SHE: 000063, HKG: 0763), China's second largest telecom device maker, have formed a strategic partnership to establish a joint venture in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, aimed at offering interactive TV value-added services, Marbridge Daily reported. ZTE-The9 Network Technology Co, the new firm, will offer integrated products for online, mobile, and TV value-added services to over 90% interactive TV households in China. Since 2008, The9 has partnered on gaming platforms and services with branches of China Unicom Ltd (NYSE: CHU, SHA: 600050, HKG: 0762) and China Telecom Corp (NYSE: CHA, HKG: 0728) in 17 provinces, serving 10 million IPTV users, or 95% of the nation's total. The9 has also partnered with 11 cable TV operators as well as Walt Disney Co (NYSE: DIS) and other brands.
