Never thought much about "technical" analysis, but would they say adm is building a base here? It seems to be in a narrow range last 6 mos. Regardless i like adm here and for the long term fundamentals. If the next quarter report is reasonable the stock should start to climb again. If not i still say its a buy and hold with a nice dividend for a growth sector stock. jmho.
I am also long ADM. But I am not sure that I can stand another disappointing quarter, another "we used the money for future growth and administrative items". ADM simply needs to produce profits and repay debt.
D8: I dont think one should be too concerned about the next quarter earnings. It is possible it might not be great especially if adm had made hedges or some sort of decision based on expected commodity prices that did not turn out as expected. Still think adm is a good buy on weakness as i expect it will return to very good earnings again. Its past track record has been excellent and i see no fundamental reason it wont do well again in the future. IN fact i think it does even better. Of course you must do what you think is best. Good luck.
I'm not certain I agree with a need to generate immediate returns. I am also long on ADM, but this is a historic opportunity that comes around once every 15 years or so: After a global crash in commodities and finance, many processors are distressed, and credit is hard to get.. cash is king, and there are global opportunities for acquisition in wetmilling, sugar, and ethanol. I would be happy to forego immediate return in exchange for acquiring assets at a bargain.
