adm has to pick its time and areas to grow but there are an abundant ways they can grow. I like their idea to become more active in South America. No doubt they should stick to their core business but they could add more in the fertillizer side. Interesting to see how the biodegradable plastic joint venture works out. longer term industrial chemicals from crops will start to grow again once oil goes to new record high price, although it could be 5+years away. I also think venture into the shipping business is a possibility one day. just depends on where they chose to go. as for ethanol and biofuel they will really take off once peak oil hits. the instability in the middle east and other oil producing countries could mean adm biofuel takes off at any time, if for example Israel and Iran get into a prolonged conflict and it upsets supply lines.
