    Bill Foley

Employees are paid salaries....at any point in time they are free to offer their services to a higher bidder (i.e. a better paying job).

US workers are now competing against labor from India, etc. Reality is that the world has changed and additional changes are occurring every day. It is the responsibility of management to position the company in such a way that it will remain competitive.

Look what happened to GM, Ford, etc.

Some free advice....an employee should never delude themself into thinking that they are irreplacable.

p.s. I'm not saying that it is a 'good thing' that employees didn't recieve raises, are suffering job lay-offs, etc. It's devastating. I think that I understand the reasons that companies are doing it though.

    • Absolutely correct. And it's always good to take a look around at other options for employment when something like this happens.

As I get older I realize that while money is very important, it's also important to feel good about your job and enjoy what you do.

I think it would have been a nice gesture for upper mgmt. to at least give employees something...anything...a gift certificate, an extra couple of days of vacation, a gas card.

The kicker was that upper mgmt. rewarded themselves with stock options while giving nothing to the people that do the actual work.

And yep, it's the way the world is today, so forget that loyalty nonsense & think about how to make YOUR life better. Find a place that will appreciate your hard work!

    • Everyone at FIS is not getting a raise this year BUT the execs thought it would be nice, prior to making this announcement, on giving themselves FREE stock options. LOOK EVERYONE WE SAVED THE COMPANY 15MIL BY THE WAY WE TOOK 5 FOR OURSELVES. CORPORATE GREED, YOU HAVE TO LOVE IT!!!!

    • FIS' product line includes some very sophisticated banking software. I worked with several offshore Indian resources (Covansys) on development projects. When one factors in the time required redoing their sloppy work they actually cost more to use than home grown experienced resources. Foley is way to short sighted to realize that outsourcing is hurting future product development. He's after the quick buck.
