I don't have any experience with spinoffs. The research I have done states that historically, spinoffs have a 5 year return of about 75% for the aggregate of both of the stocks, but I'm interested in what is going to happen to the FIS stock in the short term.
On July 2, once the spinoff is complete from a shares perspective, I assume that the FIS stock is going to fall somewhat proportionally to the valuation of the new LPS stock??
Does anyone have experience with this and know the basic trend for the post-spinoff stock??
The company should issue a news release as to how to calculate your cost basis. It will NOT be the initial price of LPS though.
ALSO: Roxette has been a long time liar on this board....a highly unreliable source of information.
Assuming that I want to cash out of FIS/LPS (for personal reason - no reflection of my believe in the stocks), wouldn't it be best to wait until after the spin-off? That way my gain will be less (or loss be greater) on FIS as I assume the price will drop corresponding to the inital price of LPS. Furthermore, my tax basis for LPS will be it's initial price, right?
Most of us now realize that Foley is PURELY a business #$%^&(?). Not many know this, but he was legally told to leave California because of his business antics. Now, he's doing the same in Florida and has become an embarressment to all of Jacksonville. His game is to buy a business, hire very experienced people to build it up and then fire those same people (to make the bottom line look good) while he sells it for a lot more than the buyer realizes it's worth.
He was literally kicked out of the entire state of California for these illegal antics (watch the movie Pretty Woman and you'll understand). And he's now become an imbarassement to all of Jacksonville! He was on CNBC a few years ago stating that "employees were something that he 'used' for his goal and then just 'threw' away". Do you want to work for this man?!?!
This year... layoffs and no raises for the employees that made him all these millins is a dicrease to Jacksonville people.
I am very interested in your comments and would appreciate it if you could let me know more about how he was legally told to leave. I believe this and am interested to know more.
We all know the games of power and you seem to have hot the nail on the head!!
Let me know
