Nobody seems to get it. The only surprise is that Sarkozy won in the first place. France has always been a socialistic society. The french people are not willing to endure even a little pain in order to repair their economy. They want, and believe, that the government must retain all public benefits and hand outs and that it's ok to borrow more money to do so. Later, they contend, they will worry about the results of all that borrowing and pay it back, even though this policy has failed numerous times in the past and, in fact, has created the situation that they are presently in. It's called instant gratification. Again, let me repeat, "THEY JUST DON'T GET IT!"
Ummm. Help me with this. I thought Sarkozy was the right...leaning further right to get the hard right voters. Is our concern not that the left may take over? Sarkozy has been a key figure in working out what stability Europe has achieved. On that account the markets might not like his being replaced by someone left leaning and less friendly to big companys. How/why would ALU move HQ to the U.S.? They are a French company.
