    • No details on Verwaayen's replacement were provided. He has agreed to stay on as caretaker until a successor can be found. Alcatel-Lucent said it will look at candidates both internally and from outside the company.

    • ALU really needs to give GS a much bigger mandate than just finding a CEO. Mr. Camus needs to give them a call and tell them to devise the best plan they can for ALU with all options on the table. If that means hiring a new CEO and continuing as is, so be it, but if a more extensive reorganization is needed then it is time now for ALU to proceed. They should look at the possibility of a combination with NSN, or any others, a sale of the entire company, a sale of the company in parts, a spin off of divisions, a sale to private investors, etc. Everything should be on the table. Mr. Camus should then announce that the Board believes that ALU is grossly undervalued for its assets and therefore has hired GS to take a full review of the company and come up with a plan that will enable shareholders to realize the underlying value of ALU's assets. That will drive this stock up in a hurry. The reason this stock is trading at such a low price relative to the value of its assets is that this turnaround plan without the help of other, financially stronger entities is still quite risky. ALU needs to look at other options, rather than only looking at a continuation of its current plan.
