Disclosure: I own no position in Paychex. I came here because of a recent article I saw on CNBC that reminded me that I should probably publicly disclose some details of my experience with them as a vendor to my company. In a word: TERRIBLE!
I see that others have posted of their experience with Paychex. Now I add mine.
I used be the senior finance guy in a company that used Paychex. They made so many errors. Absolutely the WORST vendor I ever did business with.
Payroll: When we asked them to execute a state move on an employee, they totally screwed it up. This one error is then compounded in the quarterly and annual filings for the entire company. It took our people countless hours to explain to Paychex how they should make the corrections. We had to tell them how to do their job! That was the last straw. Fortunately, we were at year-end, so we switched to ADP going forward. ADP has performed smoothly. Unfortunately Paychex did not execute the adjustments as agreed -- we received a letter from the IRS a year later! Still trying to fix!
Insurance: We used their agency for a worker's comp policy. When we wanted to make a simple change, they refused even though the ultimate insurer (Travelers said it was fine). Their legal department is terrible.
Paychex seems to so poorly managed, I wonder how anyone stays with them.
