Someone Needs to Help XOM--But Who?

ExxonMobil is doing . . . (choose your words) . . . so much better than last year at this time (NOT).

    Is the boycott helping ExxonMobil?

    • If that is something of interest to you, I have full confidence in your intellectual skills to do the research on that yourself, but you can start by searching Yahoo

    • Hunt,

Just out of curiousity, what is the US Army's policy on discrimination based on sexual orientation?

    • You think that is bad--wait to you hear about the disfunctional guy who let this poster bother him so much he couldn't find the ignore button.

    • Want to answer my question before you ask your own:

You write: "The only reason it might be desireable to add sexual orientation to the EEO policy statement would be as a "political message". Tell me exactly what that "political message" is?

    • I give you this: You are so much better than me at belittling people with your accusations of mental illness merely because they disagree with you.

    • You know what's amazing about this post is that you actually believe the bunk you write and when someone calls you on it you come up with something new (after numerous posts) like "that should not cause you to stop posting.".

You write: "There would be fewer homophobic posts on this board if you didn't post. That has been clearly demonstrated during periods when you stopped posting for a while. It is a fact. It is unfortunate that it is a fact and that should not cause you to stop posting."

Tell me again, WHY did you bring it up?

    • You work the big lie enough.

XOM, the company that complains of too much regulation, when given the opportunity to do something the law does not require takes a pass. Must be that part of their explanation about it be "inadvisable" (an inclusive EEO statement--that is).

You write: "The only reason it might be desireable to add sexual orientation to the EEO policy statement would be as a "political message". Tell me exactly what that "political message" is?

You continue to politicize equal opportunity and I suspect there will be alot more regulations for XOM to deal with if they continue to ignore the concerns of customers and shareholders (not to mention voters).

    • You write: "The posts of yours to which I object are not those promoting your shareholder proposal or domestic partner benefits (even if I don't agree with them) but those that tell lies about XOM, those that continually bash XOM and those that accuse all other posters that don't agree with you of bigotry and homophobia."

Oh, give me a break. The number of posts I've made regarding the shareholders' initiative in which you have not objected (even if you disagree--now that's funny--such a distinction) are so numerous as to border on . . . (well you tell me). Your claims not withstanding, I do not think posters are bigots or homophobes because they disagree with me. Their words speak for themselves.

    • You write: "There would be fewer homophobic posts on this board if you didn't post. That has been clearly demonstrated during periods when you stopped posting for a while. It is a fact. It is unfortunate that it is a fact and that should not cause you to stop posting."

Must explain why you brought it up.

    • The lie is your notion that XOM treats discrimination based on sexual orientation equally (or even at all) in their EEO statement.

The fact is that sexual orientation, by your own admission, is not in XOM's EEO statement. To quote you: "You know this because it has been explained to you by posters here and by ExxonMobil."

With such an omission, it is obvious and clear that XOM does not consider discrimination based on sexual orientation to warrant the same protections as other protected classes. Not only that, they will FIGHT (along with the bigots on this board) including sexual orientation in their EEO statement.
