    Creating capital from waste

The process is supply side economics financed with taxes.

Place sales taxes on junk food, fast food, alcohol, tobacco, condoms, female contraceptives, and abortions. The taxes can be used to improve education and create human capital. More human capital increases productivity and income.

Place a high excise tax on gasoline, diesel fuel, natural gas, and electricity. Wasteful trucking services will give way to more efficient rail. People will drive less and live closer to their place of work allowing the superior economics of urban living to displace rural and suburban living. Taxes collected can be used to subsidize develop solar, wind, battery, maglev, and advanced quantum mechanics and nano technologies. Productivity rises from the investments and the elimination of waste.

A high sales tax on general consumption items will tax the criminal population and those who don't pay taxes. As their living standard is reduced by the taxes they will work harder and generate more output to offset it.
