velti on the nasdaq threshold list. this means that in the last 5 trading days sellers failed to deliver at least 10,000 shares or 0.5% of outstanding shares, whichever is greater. ie people cant get the borrow to deliver shares they shorted, forcing them to buy the shares to then deliver. this is huge guys, this is how massive squeezes begin
New CFO Ross was announced, when? Dec 16th? Looking at the chart beginnen Dec 17th, there has been accumulation and perhaps an equal amount of shorting.
Institutional holdings according NASDAQ 's website is 62.55% or 40.6M shares. Assuming that there has been accumulation of 5.4 Million shares of the float since Dec 17 (which is definitely possible looking at the volume and the spikes in SP), 46 M shares are institutionally owned.
With a float of 54.8 M shares, there aren't enough shares to fill the hole of 18 M shares shorted.
BTW, yesterday (Thursday) Velt was still on the threshold list!
the greater of 10,000 or 0.5% of outstanding stock, so we know at least 310,000 shares (0.5% of 61.8mln shares). doesn't really matter though if 310,001 or 3.1mln, the fact it's on the threshold list means tougher to short (you need to show a broker/dealer you have borrow before you sell short), impossible to borrow, borrowing rate ratchets up so more expensive, and enough algo-driven funds out there will use this as buy signal. getting on this list is the equivilent of being found guilty of murder...doesnt matter if you killed one person or 20, you're going to jail for a long time
