    MJ...just curious

Any thoughts on what will happen when His Airness retires? I figure he will be a Nike icon for life, but what will be the consequences of his leaving the NBA?

    • When MJ retires:

-I will once again stop watching NBA basketball, just like I did when he retired the first time

-A lot of other people will do the same, just like they did last time

-Sales of MJ's shoes will drop significantly, just like they did last time

-A lot of shoe chains will see their overall sales drop (just read the monthly sales reports for FTS or Z or TSA and you get the idea how much thei depend on the Air Jordans)

      -NKE's stock will take a short-term hit

-NKE will do just fine. They have way too much talent under contract for their sales to be affected negatively for more than a couple of quarters.

      Just my $0.02
