Its not the operating system that makes Apple Iphone great.. its the applications and the fact millions of us have our songs downloaded on it.. do you realy believe people will flus hundreds of bux down the drain that they spent on apps and songs just to swing over to android??
Silly.. really silly.. Apple has a multi year head start.. even if android is fantastic it will take 5 or more years to win over base consumers.. and many millions have 2 year service agreements.. so apple gets 2 years to check out android and one up em...
It's not the existing iPhone users, it's the new users that will look at other products coming on the market. A lot of people just aren't "Apple people", and if given a comparable choice they'll likely gravitate in that direction. (I'm one of them. I've used the iPhone and it's just not my cup of tea.)
As far as apps goes, Android is an open platform, and will attrack developers. And all those apps created for iPhone helps the competition because developers that have created existing apps for iPhone can port them over to Android, right? (There's good motivation to- Get paid twice) I see no reason why an App Store and a music solution can't easily be replicated elsewhere.
