As Apple evaluates what to do with its cash hoard here is an option to take out Qualcomm (QCOM) and bring some energy into this “almost family” run business! QCOM market cap is more than what Apple has in cash but Apple can still be a major QCOM shareholder and give it the necessary direction and focus in the smartphone space. Just a thought – what say?
AAPL needs to continue to do just what they are doing with their cash. If they depleted it for an acquisition or buy in as you suggested they would lose their first mover advantage which allows them to pre-pay suppliers and lock down components forcing the competition to have to wait to get in the game and pay more when they do. Anybody questioning this genius needs to go back to doing some DD on how aapl locked up the market for their i-phone and i-pad. In the case of the i-pad that first mover advantage may be enough to give aapl an i=pod like dominance.
