Every television is essentially the same design, every car is essentially the same design, every shoe is essentially the same design, every book is essentially the same desgin. All inventions are built on the backs of others. I have an iphone now...but will move to android based phone from now on. How the hell can you patent a shape? this is strictly moving competitors out, but consumers are not dumb and will leave apple with there patents but no sales. MARK MY WORD!!!
A certain shoe company patented a certain color red that they used on the soles of shoes that they produced. Another company came along and started using the very same color for a different product. The shoe company brought an infringement of patent lawsuit against the second company. The courts ruled that colors could not be patented as they were obvious.
I believe that this line of reasoning will eventually be applied to this case and the outcome will be that a rectangle shape is obvious and has been in use far longer then any Apple patent. Now if you were to modify the basic shape so that it was distinctly different; then APPL might have a valid patentable shape.
Sentiment: Strong Sell
Every car has a patented feature other car company's are not allowed to duplicate. Why should you punish apple for being first with the most. You are punishing your self for trading in your I phone for an android.
Ralph...He hasn't got an iphone. His posts are all fiction. I'll tell you right now it's not APPLE he's #$%$ at. IT'S YOU , and me, and all the other longs who have made a lot of money supporting this companies stock. He either didn't have the seckels, or the cajones to buy APPLE shares and is shut out of the big gains we have realized. He has to rail at somebody to convince himself he's a player...He's not !
Your argument is terrible. However, I'll play along. Lets say that Apple wrote a book and its name was iPhone. It took many years, design cover ideas and revisions to write this book. When Apple finally felt that the book was competed, they released it to the public. Samsung came along, copied the contents of the book, used cheaper materials to make the book, lowered the price and began to sell it as their own. You tell me how that's fair OR legal, dummy?!?
ron4, I think you do not speak English well, maybe you are from South Korea? It was more than the rectangle shape, there were something like 6 patents infringed upon. I know the rectangle shape sounds the most ludicrous, but there are a lot of patents infringed upon, and most sound much more specific. So, don't quote the most superficial one and pretend they are all superficial. They are not, and your post is not fair nor representative.
Just look at the big picture, before the iphone came out, there was nothing like it. now, there are lots and lots of phones very much like it. Get the picture? By the way, new Windows phones do not have the look or feel of an iPhone. They are not copying. Microsoft created a new concept with panes. Consumers are free to move to whatever phone they want, but they have to pay, through the manufacturer, for the design ideas behind the phone they buy and enjoy.
Like an earlier poster, my advice to you, ron4, is to cover your short shares.
I can understand but you have to remember the 100000 people who are angry and who will picket apple are followed by 1000000000 people who could care less.
When i was young and my parents did something I did not like I'd hold my breath and turn blue. That did not work lol.
But I do appreciate your sentiment and in a kind of way, kind of sortof I agree, some what. I just don't make a religion out of it lol. Now if you really really are mad make a statement and sell all your Apple stock and refuse to make money off of it. Then talk us into doing the same. Fat chance.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
