In August 2011 Apple had 28% of US smartphone market.
Since then the market has gotten much bigger--if they stayed at 28% they would have good growth.
But as you know they now have 53% of the US market.
I read in TechCrunch and MacObserver, citing Gartner numbers and Comtech International numbers, AAPL NOW HAS DOMINANT SMARTPHONE MARKET SHARE IN USA: 53.3%. But I think it said they had 38% of US market last year, not 28%. Going up from 38% to 53% in a growing market is good enough, its almost 50% growth in market share.
Rest of world however, lower income (third world) or economy doing worse (Europe) however ANDROID MARKET SHARE remains the majority. BUT IN USA APPLE NOW HAS MAJORITY MARKET SHARE AND ANDROID DOWN 10%.
Huge number. Now, it's just a matter of when the big boys are ready to take this thing back up. It appears they are in no hurry this morning, but this is not a sub-$600 stock if their market share is more than 50% in U.S. It will be higher for the q because they didn't launch until late September and December is not in this guy's numbers. Good change AAPL will close green today... the positive reaction to this great news that AAPL's Smartphone Market share is now up 50% over Christmas season 2011, from 38% to 53% share in a growing market... is not fully felt in today's depressed stock market on Fiscal Cliff news.
