Something really stinks bad in this story. The article specifically implies that Apple had ordered 60+ million displays for the quarter ending March 31. But that would mean they expected to sell more 5's in the quarter following the Christmas quarter ending Dec. 31, Apple's most profitable quarter of the year!! When has Apple's fiscal year second quarter EVER outsold their fiscal first quarter?
I think that "The Nikkei" was really reporting a decrease of production from first fiscal quarter of about 60 million displays to 30-40 million displays in the second quarter, just the same old ramping down that occurs every year. I think Reuters, WSJ, and DigiTimes ALL know this, but disregard it so that they can be the first to report the gloom and doom (albeit unverified) "news" about AAPL. we'll see sometime tomorrow morning.
