    Apple price on March 1st?

Well I told my Dad 2 weeks ago that Apple would be $600 a share or more on 3/1....Looks like I'm gonna be dead wrong. NO chance of that happening now, right?

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

    • I think there is a limit to how much money wants to be invested in a single name...especially once you strip out growth investors...I think Apple was in a sweet spot in that it was attractive to value and growth investors- but now it is only attractive to value investors and marginally so- because the dividend is not what it needs to be. Say what you want about Intel, Cisco and MSFT, but they have established floors under their stock price by virtue of their dividend yields. Apple still cannot say this.

I also think that while Apple is almost universally loved by consumers- they have a lot of enemies out there- especially on Wall Street. Apple does almost no M&A and has no debt so they throw Wall Street no love in the form of fees. Even an aggressive stock buy back program would show Wall Street some love in the form of commissions. Sure there may be some still high price targets, and some fund managers have been overly bullish- but this stock has ruined their careers- so there is tons of hate out there. This has flat out turned into a hated stock- and it is difficult to convince people to buy a hated stock. They are also essentially one of the largest bond owners out there with a $100B fixed income portfolio so they are essentially contributing to the issue of bonds being over-owned.

You watch if Apple decides to issue debt or start doing M&A- the sentiment will change in a hurry as the greedy bankers steam roll their analyst into doing an upgrade a raise in the price target in order to curry favor.

      Sentiment: Strong Buy

    • You'll be lucky if its still over 400. Without Jobs, they're just another tech company with big ideas.

      Sentiment: Strong Buy

    • Who knows, but I think good guidance on the next CC would do a lot to start a recovery of this stock. Until then I expect much of the same rumor and speculation that led up to the most recent CC.

Apple needs to prove there is growth ahead. They can prove it with China and other geographic expansion, or they can do it with new product sales--but I think it will have to be proven with hard numbers (e.g., earnings report).

    • if CM deal is announced, then yes it is possible

      Sentiment: Strong Buy
