Anybody expect a major Apple announcement soon?

    No would-be comedians, please.

    • I think there is something to the whole notion of increasing shareholder value by continuing to buy back shares. Also, AAPL might do some accretive moves by buying up businesses to allow them to get more into software and services.
In any event, this is clearly the time to be BUYING AAPL, i.e. at a point where it is being written off as "dead" ! Hilarious !
Apple and Samsung are THE two big bullies in the neighborhood, but their phones appeal to different demographics. Apple will not HURT itself by bring out a cheaper iPhone; it will only then steal turf from Samsung. Nokia is a very distant third, and RIMM is not even on the radar.

    • I wouldn't expect any product announcements until March, that is their traditional date. I also wouldn't expect any share buy-back, dividend increase, or split... unless the BOD cracks the whip, Cook made it clear where he stands on shareholder value.

    • Maybe not in the next week or two but I think they will likely do a well planned Q&A where they will allude to using their mountain of cash for some share buybacks and also hint at new product releases that are insanely great. The share buyback will easily get this stock back up 10% quickly, and the discussion around new products will inch their stock back up over 550 again. They haven't had a major "NEW" product launch in a couple years so they are due to do something. Perhaps gaming, perhaps TV....

      .

    • I'm hoping they announce some new product at the shareholder meeting in Feb. Last year they said "we're working on some things that will blow your mind" but we haven't seen those yet. Seems time to announce something. Anything. Please.

    • No.
If they do it will be prompted from outside forces in relation to PPS/share holders.
AAPL lives in their own world.
Helluva an attitude for a publicly traded company.
      Time they got spanked
