China Mobile - Is it really going to move AAPL? Intelligent discussion welcome

People keep talking about it likes it's a saving grace, but how do we know it's going to move AAPL? I just don't know what's going to give AAPL some momentum again like we've seen in the past. I want AAPL to succeed, but the negativity is wearing on me.

Apple TV probably won't be out this year (let me know if you disagree), but other catalysts like an emerging markets phone or China Mobile deal seems to be what everyone is waiting on with bated breath. Well, is it really going to make a difference?

    • The problem is, that you ask the wrong question.
The right question is: sInce ALL shareholders of AAPL are underwater, how can you find another 150M investors with $400B cash in hand to replace the current holders, who all want out?

      Answer: impossible, for now.
The share price is in stable downtrend, the current holders sell at every single attempt into every rally attempt, they are a clear strong majority for now, for they fear of further drops.
      AAPL price MUST go significantly lower to attract new buyers, and to give up all hope at current owners;
probably $250-270 is the range where new buyers will come in equilibrium to match sellers. The first time.

No China Mobil news will change the current psycology, which is:
Sellers: I want to sell as soon as possible
Buyers: I will postpone buying, and think to wait for better price.

      THAT is the problem.

    • More than you can imagine.

For what its worth, analysts keep saying 2014. I don't think anything is going to move the needle except for a blowout earnings report and I wouldn't be holding my breath for that.

    • Apple it is not about phones any more. They need brand new category of at least 50 Bil/year sales. You guys are still talking about phones and computers those thing think don't matter much to the market or share price.

    • I can see apple selling a cheaper phone to CM with a contract for a minimum purchase.

      Sentiment: Strong Buy

    • Yes. It will move AAPL if the deal actually get signed. The problem is no one knows when. It isn't something you can trade on right now.

    • it will move AAPL,not Samsung, anything which does not move Samsung is good for AAPL.
China Mobile will allow AAPL to penetrate the Chinese market with more AAPL stores and launching new products.

      Sentiment: Strong Buy

    • There is too much riding on China Mobile ... expectations are blown out of proportion, and it has added to the "Hope" syndrome. Yes, it will be a catalyst, but not what most believe to be true. This China Mobile has gone on for years now, and still to no avail. This stock is not worth getting all hyped up over...the Momo days are done. Just watch the Up days and you will see. Not bashing here....just trying to be realistic...everyone's Hopes are way overdone to the point of hysteria.

And you know there is something wrong when all you have to go on is Hope.
