Watch Could be Worth $6 Billion, Citi Tells Bloomberg
By Tiernan Ray
In case you missed it, Bloomberg‘s Peter Burrows and Olga Kharif this morning write that Apple‘s (AAPL) rumored smart watch could be a big revenue draw for the company, citing comments from Citigroup luxury goods analyst Oliver Chen.
Such a device could produce $6 billion in revenue, the analyst says. That, the authors said, would make it more profitable for Apple than a similar share of the $119 billion television market, which might produce just $1.79 billion in annual profit versus $3.6 billion from watches.
The authors cite one unnamed source as saying Apple “seeks to introduce the device as soon as this year.”
