What if Tim Cook knows that earnings DID NOT miss and so he knows the stock will recover. In that case why loose all that cash in higher dividend. They just buyback stock during quarter, Even if they do a minor best, the stock will pop at this point. All this talk about Apple to 275 or whatever, those people are smoking ganja.
Apple is not going to miss, they said clearly the range they were giving is the range that they are confident to meet. Think about it, there have been no real new "competition" during this Q, samsung's new phone is not out yet, BB's new phone is not there, Nok's new windows phone is not that attractive, so what are the potential iPhone buyer are buying this Q, if you are not buy iPhone? are we thinking the smart phone market is shrinking? but all data suggest the market is growing...Someone is smoking big, engineering a big trap. Iphone might be aged, but it's not going to lose the market share overnight, especially given its itune eco system, I don't think Apple is going to miss their own range. That said, I will exit my long position before the earning:-) just play safe.
he didn't "sell", rookie. he exercised options as part of his 10b5-1 plan. learn it.
tango is right, and what i've been saying all along...why raise the price with announcements when they are in the process of buying back shares. last time i checked it's usually better to buy back shares at a lower price, but that logic is lost on the majority of this board..
