This guy speculates that if Apple is spending this much money for a new HQ, how much money are they wasting else where. He says stuff like if you see fountains in the main lobby of any company, SELL!!! Also when things are planned out perfectly they tend to collapse....
“It is now known that a perfection of planned layout is achieved only by institutions on the point of collapse.
Since 2011, the budget for Apple’s Campus 2 has ballooned from less than $3 billion to nearly $5 billion, according to five people close to the project who were not authorized to speak on the record. If their consensus estimate is accurate, Apple’s expansion would eclipse the $3.9 billion being spent on the new World Trade Center complex in New York, and the new office space would run more than $1,500 per square foot—three times the cost of many top-of-the-line downtown corporate towers.
If Apple stopped selling anywhere but the US, they would still make $5 billion a quarter. Apple spending $5 billion on a building is like a regular person spending $5000 to buy a house.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
Genius idea and equally as genius design. Truly a work of art, aesthetically stunning, environmentally friendly and a workplace dream come true. Spend the $5 billion and make it a reality.
They are postponing the project to work with the architect to remove 1 billion from the budget. You do not understand the vision that Steve Jobs had for the campus. Plus with it's current design it was easily approved by the city council with the recommendation to approve from the planning department. It started as a 50 acre campus and is now a 175 acre campus, of coarse the cost will go up from what it was originally when it was first started.
Those arrogant hippies will screw it up, why do you think smart money is jumping ship? Last time Jobs left Apple #$%$ away billions on R&D and got literally NOTHING OUT OF IT. The only smart decision Apple has made without Steve Jobs was to buy NeXT from Steve Jobs for 427 million.
For comparison checkout berkshires hq, there is a business I have no hesatation giving my money to.
This makes for a bad image for Apple. $5billion or more to build it with those huge shareholder losses of the past year, this is the ultimate insult to shareholders sitting on big losses.
Built on the backs of 700,000 Chinese workers who only get $1 or $2 per hour assembling Apple Products... while 12,000 overly paid American Apple employees get to work in the world's fanciest and way most costly office building the word's ever seen. Built on the backs of Apple stockholders via Apple's overly stingy dividend only paying out 20% of profits.
