Musing over AMZN as a business

Noticing that AMZN continues to go up, I found myself staring at its Yahoo Key Stats page in wonderment. It not the first time I've been there, nor am I naive about the fact that the vast majority of Amazon's business is as a low-margin distributor of products it doesn't produce. But it just amazes me that there is this company that shifted $63 billion in goods last year and lost money doing it. So there's $63 billion of #$%$ out there filling up shelves, closets, attics, and basements and this company didn't even make money. Little redeeming value in terms of the environment or our economy, and not even a profit for adding this mountain of junk to people's lives. And so, what does the future have in store? Another $60-70 billion of junk mailed out to be packed into those same closets and basements? And still no profit? How could anyone want to invest in this dog of a company? Even Walmart, another purveyor of mountains of soon-to-be-landfill, at least makes a profit. Unbelievable. The world will turn and we Apple longs will have our day.
