If Apple is serious about TV then...

Why don't they just buy Tivo and incorporate it into a premium TV product.

Tivo is synonymous with DVR... When many people record a show they Tivo

When you merge two great products into one you can get the ultimate TV experience. Google tried to do it with Google TV but what they were missing was the DVR side of the product. That is why Apple should really consider picking up the best of the best DVR technology and integrating it into their TV product... If they don't then perhaps someday Google (they clearly have the money to buy any company they want).

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

    • tivo is nothing special, its the content deals that matter followed by a new way to interact and consume

    • It’s pretty clear that Apple has something big in the works and it would not surprise me if this is the year they finally introduce their breakthrough TV product. They probably couldn't integrate Tivo right not even if they wanted to; many of their products are tested for years before they hit the mainstream. If anyone were to buy Tivo it would probably be Google. They already own many of the brightest engineers in the world and are often willing pay up for proven technologies. Of course, if Tivo really want to shop the company then they’d be able to sell it... I suspect many would pay a premium to own the company that created the DVR market.

    • Good idea but I don't think that Tivo wants to be bought.
