BWAHAHAhaha - yoy down 22% on earnings is what I heard - Gross margin declined so they were selling lots of lower end product - Sorry fanguyz Samsung is eating aapl's lunch dinner and breakfast - fade the rally who wants an iwatch? fanboyz that's who
Why not, the entire rest of the industry MISSED their lowered expectations. You think maybe consumer spending rises when average income and numbers of people working BOTH fall? Maybe you should get a job as a Cuban economist. It's a great deal easier when you can dictate the variables isn't it?
what happened to the ipod - guess that went away with the phone. what happened to the ipad - sure look stupid taking pictures and vid with a 10 inch? iphone is just a phone - you can play it but it won't make you money.
So instead of spending billion$ of R&D $'s to design a cheaper iPhone that produces lower margins, they sell older, existing models, increase mid-end m/s, and stick the saved R&D dollars in the bank - suck on that....
IT HAS BEEN ALL ABOUT THE IPHONE. Margins were in line, units sold were projected at 25 million and they sold 31 million. All with out anything really being all that shocking and no new products. When you can hold your margins as close as they did and do it with nothing new rolling out what do you think is going to happen when the new gold standards for tablets and smartphones hits the shelves? Ipad missed. But if you read everything the talking heads have been saying it's ALL ABOUT THE iPhone and Apple delivered in a big way on volume. Look for the price to keep edging higher into the 3rd and 4th quarter on the fact that there are new products rolling out in these two quarters. It all depends on how innovative they are with the new lineup....
Well stated, rmugge. There were several analysts as well as many on this board that were so certain that the iPhone5 was not even their best seller for the quarter, but these pundits have been proven wrong again. As Oppenheimer stated on the call, "iPhone 5 remains by far the most popular iPhone but we were also happy with sales of iPhone 4 and 4s." The fact that iPhone 5 sales exceeded iPhone4S is something many (who were so sure of themselves) were doubting, particularly given the
competitive issues. Apple definitely delivered in this typical seasonally slower period.
