If a deal between Apple and China mobile is going to be announced on September 11, it should be a joint event, or in a country like China that national pride rides very high China Mobile should lead the event.
So, I am not sure that next week's China event will be about the highly expected China Mobile deal.
China Mobile's silence is a huge positive sign to me. I'm sure Apple asked them to be silent so as not to destroy the impact of the announcement, just like any other company would have done. Even better - no denial issued by China Mobile. That speaks volumes to me.
Nearly every one watching this has been expecting a release in late 2013 or early 2014. This is a bit of a surprise it's coming early on. So I am 50-50. Whether China Mobile is going to be announced. The technology was just not ready at first, then Cook has made two visits. When questioned the CM CEO did say, we are making progress and we will announce a deal when it is done. My hunch is that they will announce same day or day after Apple releases iPhoneC, not before, because Apple is still buying back shares.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
I would like very much to believe your hunch, but the China Mobile CEO made his comments just a couple of weeks ago, 2 or 3 weeks of time may not be sufficient to get their network technically prepared for the Iphone, and what will be the downside risk to the AAPL's share price next week if they do not announce a deal?
