You'll make more money buying OLED than this is going to make. The only supply they can get their hands on will be used for the i-watch next year and it will take two years before they will be able to change to OLED for their phone ,forget TV's..
Sentiment: Strong Sell
Wow, you kids are really gaga for the fingerprint scanner... I had a Droid with a fingerprint scanner five years ago. It's not offered anymore, because nobody actually wanted it. So there ya go.
And retina vs oled? Man, they've sold you a bill if goods. Yall are nuts..
The stock is about 20% off its highs and has a group shorting it, and fell around 10% recently after some comments about possibiity of patents being invalidated. I see Oppenheimer analyst isn't worried, but buying OLED sounds riskier than owning AAPL. Has the company said anything about the patents?
Yes, they have. The only patent in question is in Europe, not the US nor any country in Asia. The patent in question is not the one they use for manufacturing nor do they expect to. Additionally, they have already won the ruling and this is an appeal which most likely will not be ruled in favor of the appeals. . Even if i OLED does not prevail, the fact that it holds all the current manufacturing patents and continues to file new material patents and that all the patents are upheld in America and Asia means that even if the win on this one patent and manufacturer in Europe you can't sell the phones in Asia or the US according to World Patent Law.
Universal Display Corporation(OLED) has ALL the patents it will be presenting Thursday at Oppenheimer conference in New York. Last week the day after the Las Vegas conference which was great Manuel Asensio ran a hyped blog about an appeal on a European patent that UDC won which could invalidate the foundation of OLED mind you UDC WON and their challenge is worthless, if you read it(read zikzak post on yahoo or SI). UDC announced that they are in talks with LG which should be concluded within six months just as LG has its' new Gen 8 plant come on line with projected production of 1.2 MM 55" OLED screens. Not to worry Apple will be using 1.3" OLED screens on next years watches.
