Apple pulled a fast one on the analysts. I recall Microsoft doing a similar number on the analysts with the same result. Stock took a dive when the PR came out after hours. But then turned on a dime and stared climbing. The problem was that the analysts misread the results and what looked like a miss was really a solid quarter. Just a little misunderstanding caused by Microsoft's creative accounting, not unlike Apple's slipping in some extra deferred income into the report. It was a pleasure seeing Mr. Rigley and his editors at Reuters get egg on their faces with their hastily prepared, in-the-can report on why Apple came up short in the margins department.
