I hate to say it, but this an *old* one. To answer, yes, but none except the last endured for 12+ years. If you want a wakeup call, check out the improving stories from consumer reactions to completed CompUSA sites -- one grand opening was the chain's best ever and depleted the store's mac reserves, but *not* the stores PC reserves!

    • In case you didn't know, Beta is the professional standard.

    • Actually, Beta video systems lost the war and won the battle: they're very much still around as the high-end video medium of choice in professional network, studio and advertising applications. The analogy with Apple as the high-end system of choice in publishing and graphics is clear enough. If only they had Sony's deep pockets behind them.

The future is uncertain, but I think there is still money to be made in AAPL. Last summer it was down to 12 and I bought almost at the bottom. Then it was up over 26 and I sold. Very lucky. But I think we'll see a repeat of that before then end of January.

      MSFT has it's problems, too.

It ain't over till it's over.
