I agree that DE is the type of company that Buffett loves to buy, but the $34.5 B market cap may be a bit big. He could do another 3G type partnership, but I don't think it would be smart publicity wise to bring in a foreign partner to take over an iconic American company like DE. Not to say it couldn't happen, but I'm thinking something smaller - SJM, MKC and TIF are my candidates.
I agree with you on the tractor in Omaha. Buffet has been saying that he's looking for another "Big Elephant" and DE (which he already owns some) is a perfect Elephant for Warren and his pal Bill Gates (#1 DE stockholder) to invest in. Remember too that Warren's son is an active farmer.
the only thing that keeps his hands off a company is when the board doesn't want to sell. but I know DE at all time highs unable to break them for several years, they know it is better to sell now than wait for the next downturn and have to explain to many shareholders. being one such as BRK they would be fine as long as they are consistent and answer for their performance.
you're the one who's a moron for calling others morons. He purchases stock holdings at low price, if you knew him he called them cigar butts but never purchases companies to wholly own at low prices for more, that is only for people to flip to try and sell later at a premium. he keeps them for lifetime, so he rather pay a good price for a great company than a great price for an ok company.
