Great, just great. POI's bleeding million dollar buckets full of cash every quarter, and now they are sponsoring the Winston Cup at the Kansas Speedway. There has to be a better use for what little cash they have.
Now don't get me wrong. Advertising is important, and NASCAR is a great way to get exposure. But the ad deal, according to the KC STAR, says they get a guarantee of being mentioned once an hour. In a three hour race that means POI could get just three plugs and then NBC would have fulfilled its obligation.
85% ownership of a sinking ship, the captain steering towards the icebergs and now they are setting the lifeboats adrift to get "exposure".
Because POI has an annualized customer attrition rate of 15%, I think that it would be symbolic if the length of the race wa reduced by 15% next year to 340 laps. If POI exists two years from now they should reduce the race to 289 laps.
Looking on the bright side this should help the hospitality industry n Topeka and Lawsrence one week end each year. This should please those BOD members that appear to more concerned about the Topeka-Lawrence economy than the value of WR shares
